Galatians 3:6-14
Turn to Galatians 3. I love the little story a farmer who was helping one of his cows give birth, and he had the calf about half way out of the mother cow when he noticed his four-year-old son at the fence soaking in the whole event. That man thought to himself, ''Oh great! Only four years old, and he's going to have tons of questions, and I'll have to start explaining the birds and the bees.'' He started to tell his son to go away, but then he thought, ''No, I'll just let him watch and if he has questions I'll answer them later.''
Well, after the birth was over, and he'd taken care of mom and calf, the farmer walked over to his little boy and said, ''Well, son, do you have any questions?'' The wide-eyed boy said, ''Just one, dad--how fast was that calf going when it hit that cow?''
Well, that little boy has some things mixed up didn't he? He needed some clarification. Unfortunately, when it comes to salvation (that is being forgiven and made right with God) many people still don't always get it right. Many still have some things mixed up, and need clarification. The whole book of Galatians is the Apostle Paul trying to help the Galatian churches get the Gospel right. Because as we've been saying, it doesn't matter what you get right if you get the Gospel wrong.
In our passage this morning, the Apostle Paul is going to tell us today that everyone who has ever been saved in the past, anyone who is getting saved today in the present, and anyone who will ever be saved in the future all have been and will be saved the exact same way. God saves people from hell to heaven one way. Everyone who has ever been saved in the history of the world has received salvation by faith alone.
Now our passage today in Gal. 3 is rather complex, so before we dig into it, I want us first to look at two simpler, more familiar verses in Ephesians 2:8-9 just to get your mind warmed ...
