How Can a Baptist Walk In the Spirit? (14 of 15)

Galatians 5:16-26
Open your bibles to Galatians 5. Last Sunday at the dinner table my daughter asked, 'How many sermons do you have left in Galatians?' I said, ''Four or five. Why are you tired of it?'' She smiled and said, 'Yeah, kind of.' So encouraging! She's now grounded. So, I hope you're getting more out of this series than she is. Ha!!
Now, I have a question for you this morning that I made the title of the message: How Can a Baptist Walk in the Spirit? Ha! Is that even possible? It's been my contention for years that He is the person within the Trinity most ignored in Baptist churches. We speak of the Father lovingly. We speak of the Son continually. But we speak of the Spirit sparingly. No wonder so many Christians are confused about who the Holy Spirit is and how He is supposed to be involved in our every day life. They're afraid if they really let Him drive and control their life, He might want them to do things that are weird or strange.
Listen folks, God might call you out of your comfort zone, but God is not in the habit of asking you to do weird stuff to make you appear odd or abnormal. He's not going to ask you to stand on one foot, rub your belly, and howl at the moon, to prove that you really love Him. He's not going to make you marry some boring guy or ugly girl just because they are Christians, and make you miserable. God only calls you to do things that are for your good and for His glory. That's a great place for an amen! (REPEAT)
So what God wants you to do with you is always for your benefit. Where He wants you to go is always for your benefit. Who He wants you with is always for your benefit. You've heard me say before, ''God wants for you what you would want for you if you just had sense enough to want it.'' So if we are going be blessed and be obedient and do the ...
