John 6:1-14
We are reading this morning from John chapter 6 the only miracle of Jesus recorded by all four Gospel writers: the feeding of the 5000! And it is from this miracle that we learn that when it comes to satisfying the hungry soul: Jesus is more than enough!
Psalm 107.9, ''For He satisfies the longing soul and fills the hungry soul with goodness.'' And yet the tragedy today is that our city is filled with people who are not filled! They are just existing rather than living!
In fact... the prophet Isaiah describes most people living in West Texas in Isaiah 29.8, ''It shall even be as when a hungry man dreams, and look, he eats; but when he awakes, and his soul is still empty; or as when a thirsty man dreams, and look, he drinks; but he awakes, and indeed he is faint, and his soul still craves...''
Here is a man satisfied only in his dreams! He dreams of having a satisfied soul but then he awakes to discover that his soul still craves!
Well... this morning from John chapter 6... I want to show you how to make your dreams come true! How Jesus can turn your dreams of a satisfied life into reality. For you see...
Now don't think that Jesus came into this world to be the great miracle worker! He came into this world as the great need meeter and life giver! He did this [sign or miracle] for the same reason He did the other signs or miracle! John 20.31, ''...that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ (Messiah: anointed one), the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.''
Now as I show you from God's Word why Jesus is more than enough... let me call your attention to several things that happened. (1) THE DESPIRATION THAT HE FOUND.
Now Mark tells us in his account (Mark 6.31) that Jesus and His disciples were getting away ''to rest a while.'' There are times we need to get away for some R and R!
