What Did Jesus Think about Money?

''Jesus himself said, it is more blessed to give than receive.'' I have an idea that Jesus had much to say about giving that is not recorded in scripture. John says that if everything about His ministry had been written down there would not be enough books in the world to record it.
I want us to look at some of those things and learn some things about Christian giving from the Master himself.
1.HE RESPECTED IT.
Giving was a subject that Jesus never took lightly. There is no doubt he respected the principle of giving. Both Jesus and Paul did not say it was more fun to give or more pleasurable. They said it was more blessed.
The boy was standing by a new car at the curb. When the owner of the car arrived, he struck up a conversation with the boy. He told him the car was a gift from his brother. The boy said, ''I wish I could be a brother like that.'' The man said, ''You mean you wish you had a brother like that.'' The boy said, ''No, I wish I could be a brother like that and give a car to my brother.''
We live in a world where getting as much as we can is a mark of success, Jesus gives us another standard of greatness and blessedness in life-the standard of giving. Jesus knew that a man's life is much richer, not by what he accumulates but by what he gives away.
A little boy sat on Santa's lap and asked for two of everything. Santa asked him why he wanted two of all the toys he mentioned. He said, ''So I can share.'' We don't have to have two of everything to share.
He also respected the practice of giving. When the woman opened a vial of expensive perfume and poured it on Jesus head, some were indignant because they thought what she had done was wasteful. But Jesus said, ''Let her alone; why do you bother her? She has done a good deed to me.''
