I've been accused of a lot of things over the 20 plus years, but being intelligent probably isn't one of them. I mean, what no-name Baptist Pastor questions the validity and truthfulness of the Roman Catholic Church in the Catholic mecca of St. Louis? What kind of idiot would do that? Well, now you know.

Honestly, some of you might be thinking, ''Pastor Bob, why is this necessary? Why bring this sensitive subject up in the first place because you know it's going to cause some heartburn? I mean, it is really worth it?'' I would say this: There are a billion professed Catholics in the world right now. They are either a mission field to us or co-laborers with us in the Gospel. Which is it? The answer to that question is of grave importance. Is Roman Catholicism Christian or not?

I want you to know, I do not this moment, nor this topic lightly. I feel the immense weight of it because there is not a person in this room who is not touched by, affected by, or influenced by Roman Catholicism to some degree. PLEASE HEAR WHAT I'M ABOUT TO SAY:

The Bible is abundantly clear that salvation is not determined by the church you attend or by the denomination you support. To dismiss all Catholics as non-Christians is as wrong as saying all Baptists are faithful Christ followers because of the church they attend on Sunday. That's preposterous.

So, let me say without reservation or hesitation: THERE ARE CATHOLIC CHRISTIANS.

No doubt about it. But I'm convinced Catholic Christians have been converted to Christ through the Gospel IN SPITE of what the Catholic Church teaches, not BECAUSE of it. The Catholic Church teaches a different gospel than the one found in the Bible. It diverts from, and contradicts Scripture, over and over again. I think you'll see and understand what I mean by that as we go along.
