Divine Coincidence (3 of 5)

Ruth 2
Let's turn in our bibles to Ruth 2. Ephesians 1:11: '...(God) makes everything work out according to His plan.' I was thinking this week about how often we blame or credit LUCK for the things that happen in our life. You hear it in the words we speak.
People say: ''I never win give away's, or raffles, or drawings. I'm just not that lucky.''
Spouses say to one another: ''Honey, you are the best. I'm SO lucky to be married to you.''
A teenager walks away from a horrible car accident and confesses: ''I'm lucky to be alive.''
Or a guy on a golf course is doing the best he can and shanks a shot and it shoots straight toward the woods, ricochets off a tree branch, hits the rake laying by the sand trap, and then lands on the green next to the hole, someone always says: ''Well Pastor Bob, it's better to be lucky than good.''
It really is amazing how quickly we give credit or assign blame to luck as the ultimate cause of our blessings or catastrophes in life. I always crack up when I hear about the family who put an ad in the paper about their missing dog. It said: Lost Dog! Missing one eye, paralyzed back leg, mangled left ear, mangy hair, and recently neutered. Answers to the name 'Lucky'. It's like that old song? 'If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all. Doom, despair, and agony on me.' Remember that? Yeah me neither.
But if you know much at all about, you know that the Scripture teaches us that luck doesn't exist. There is no lucky Christian and no unlucky unbeliever. Why? Because luck or the lack of luck is not a factor in anyone's life.
The Bible teaches us something called the Sovereignty of God. That means all things are in the control of and under the authority of Almighty God. There is nothing outside of His control and there is nothing not under His authority. God owns all things, knows all things, governors all things, and guides all ...
