Most of the Old Testament is full of adventure. It's filled with battles, romance, deception, and personalities. Other sections of the Bible are mysterious and tedious, like the one we're studying today. Leviticus is not known for intrigue, but it's still important.

If you've ever tried reading through the Bible, you're experience is probably like mine. Genesis is familiar, exciting and emotional. Exodus is more of the same - with some exciting miracles thrown in! And just when you get into a good groove, Leviticus is like a speed bump that slows you down to a crawl!

At the risk of sounding blasphemous, most of Leviticus is flat out boring! I can't sugarcoat it, folks! Leviticus is not exactly devotional material! But - that's true for other parts of the Bible, too!

For example ...

1 Chronicles 26:6 For Shuppim and Hosah it was to the west, by the gate of Shallecheth, on the ascending highway. Guard corresponded to guard.
17 On the east there were six Levites, on the north four daily, on the south four daily, and at the storehouse two by two.
18 At the Parbar on the west there were four at the highway and two at the Parbar.

And all God's people said? What?! Those verses will not exactly direct your life! When we get to 1-2 Chronicles, I will not even say a single word about those verses!

God never promised that his inspired Word would be fascinating and/or /life-changing from cover to cover. That's true for the NFL, too! Last weeks' Broncos/Patriots game was awesome! Not so much for the Panthers/Cardinals.

What's true for the NFL is also true for the book of Leviticus. There's more than pillars of fire, manna from heaven and the parting of water! I'll do my best to make Leviticus sound interesting, okay?
