Bruce Larson wrote a book I read in grad school titled: Dare to Live Now. One of the chapters asked a question: ''Are you fun to live with?'' I liked that title because it ended with a preposition, and any scholar who contradicts grammar is my hero!

Larson's contention was simple: Christian's ought to be enjoyable to live with! It's true that Jesus came to ''seek and save the lost,'' but he also came to transform our personalities. Jesus Christ wants us to have a positive witness to the world.

In Galatians 5, Paul writes:

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; 20 hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy.

The first five are evil deeds, but the next eight deal with attitude. The acts of the flesh are sins of commission, but the rest are sins of disposition and they reflect our personality flaws.

I heard about a man who went to the Dr. and met a rude receptionist. He started to describe what was wrong, but she interrupted. ''Down the hall ... room 2 ... take off your clothes!''

But he protested: ''You don't understand.''

She interrupted a second time: ''Down the hall ... room 2 ... take off your clothes!''

''But my problem is my nose!'' he blurted out.

But the receptionist was too quick. ''I said, down the hall ... room 2 ... and take off your clothes!''

He walked down the hall to Room 2 and there sat a stranger on a stool in his boxers, shivering. ''I beg your pardon! I see you met Nurse Ratchet.''

''Yes,'' he stammered, ''And I'm the UPS driver.''

Our Youth Minister, Kris Howell, needs a kidney transplant - but lots of folks need a personality transplant! Truth is, most of us have had those sour moments, too. So look at what God wants us to do with our God-given personalities.
