Most of you know that my father is a missionary. He's planted churches all over the world, and I spent my summers traveling with him. We almost always began each summer with a mini 3-day vacation, and deep sea fishing was a favorite activity.

One summer two Ozark Bible College students went with us to Africa. One of them was named Mike Pratt (Mike was from Whiting, Iowa), and the other was Larry Gordon (Larry grew up in my home church in Miami, OK). Neither one of them had never been out of the United States, and they had never been deep sea fishing.

It was just the four of us because none of my siblings like to fish. We left at sun-up, got donuts on the way, purchased our tickets and began the hour-long journey to the first fishing hole. But it was May and that little fishing boat pitched and rolled in the waves, and you know what happened, right?

It only 30-40 minutes before Mike and Larry were hurling their hour-old-donuts into the Atlantic Ocean! Mike refused to take Dramamine because he owned a private pilot's license and he didn't think he'd get sick. Larry was a farmer's son and he should have know better.

Once you're sick at sea, you're done for the day! Maybe you've heard the expression, ''Nobody's ever died of seasickness?'' Jonah came close! And before the day was out, Mike and Larry wished they had died!

Ever gotten carsick? Or sick at King's Island? Some astronauts even get sick in space! If you fly then you've heard of ''spatial disorientation.'' It occurs when our eyes get focused on something that isn't moving - while you are. When you read in the car the book isn't moving - but the car is! That creates motion sickness.
