Our lives our often controlled by our physical desires and needs.
- When we are hungry we eat.
- When we are tired we sleep.
- When we are sick we seek relief.
- When we are happy we share our joy.

One day, Esau came in from working in the field and was very hungry. Giving in to his physical hunger he traded the double portion of his inheritance as the firstborn son to Jacob his younger brother for some cheap stew (Genesis 25:29-34).

Esau was controlled by his physical desires and only thought about those things that are temporal, without any thought of the spiritual. Job 31:7 Their hearts walk after (NIV led by) their eyes. Matthew Henry - ''The gratifying of the sensual appetite is that which ruins thousands of precious souls.''

Feeding the 5,000 :1-11

Large crowds of people followed Jesus to hear what he had to say.Jesus asked his disciples where they could to get food to feed them and they found a boy who had two fish and five loaves of bread.

Jesus took the fish and bread, thanked God for it, then distributed it to the people which included 5,000 men plus woman and children. The group could have been as large as 20,000 to 25,000 people. John Calvin - ''As was common with the other miracles, Christ displayed his divine power in union with acts of kindness.''

Note: this is the only miracle of Christ which is recorded in all four gospels (Matt. 14, Mark 6, Luke 9, John 6). Why was this miracle included in all the gospels? John MacArthur - ''It demonstrated the creative power of Christ more clearly than any other miracle.''It may also have been included because so many people were part of it as they ate the food and as a result, were witnesses of it.
