Light of the World (2 of 8)
Series: I Am

John 8:12
A tour guide of an underground cavern in South Dakota said they would extinguish the lights for just 30 seconds and asked the visitors to concentrate very hard to identify what we could see once the lights went out. As she turned out the lights and the last flickers faded to black, she said, ''Now, everyone, put your hand
in front of your face and tell me how many fingers you see.''
Slowly people began to say things like, ''Well, I can make out three,'' or ''I can see my thumb.'' As if she expected these answers, she chuckled and turned the lights back on. ''My friends,'' she began, ''the truth is, none of you were able to see anything. The fingers you thought you saw were the product of your imagination.
You see, when there is no light, the mind creates images for the brain.''
Then she said something that was impressive as the darkness itself: ''If I had left the lights out for a prolonged period of time, each one of you would have gone insane as your eyes and minds struggled to see in the darkness.''
Light is one of the greatest things with which we have been blessed. But as important as physical light is to this life, spiritual illumination is even more critical to eternal life. Millions of people live from day to day in the sunlight, but without the light of the knowledge of God, Jesus or forgiveness of their sins.
Jesus said, ''I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'' (John 8:12).

- Man controls his own destiny - captain of his soul.
- This life is all there is - there is nothing after death.
- Life is to be lived to the full - enjoy the moment.
- God loves everyone and will not send anyone to he ...
