CIT: James commands believers to pray at all times because the prayer of a righteous believer is powerful and effective!
PROPOSITION: Christians should pray at all times because prayer is powerful!

INTRODUCTION:

Prayer is Powerful! Do you believe that? Well, then how much do you pray? If you really, truly, honestly believe that the all-powerful God of heaven answers prayer, that nothing is impossible for him, then why don't you pray? The Bible is full of powerful prayers! Moses prayed and the people of Israel were saved from the Egyptians time and again.Elijah prayed and fire fell from heaven and consumed the altar. Isaiah prayed and the sun moved backward. The early church prayed and the building they were in shook with the presence of God. They prayed again and Peter was miraculously set free from prison by an angel.Paul prayed and a woman was brought back to life! The apostles prayed and people were healed time and again! Prayer truly is powerful! Prayer is the key that unlocks the blessings of heaven! Prayer is the most life transforming occupation that any of us will ever into! James encourages us to pray! To pray continually and powerfully. Before this sermon is over I hope that you will be convicted to do just that, to pray, every hour and every day, every moment of the day pray!

I) WE ARE COMMANDED TO PRAY AT ALL TIMES-VS. 13

''Let him pray.''

The idea James is conveying in vs. 13-14 is to pray at all times!

1 Thessalonians 5:17
17 pray without ceasing,

Romans 12:12
12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;''Unceasing prayer is to go through all activities of our days in joyful awareness of God's presence with whispered prayers of praise and adoration flowing continually from our hearts.'' The heart's true home, p.124 Specifically James mentions three occasions when we should pray. The first two are.
