CIT - Paul expresses the thanksgiving and joy he feels when he thinks of the Philippian believers.
Proposition- We can find great joy in our fellowship when we are centered in the Gospel and focused on Christ.
INTRODUCTION: Vs. 3 - I am thankful to God - This church is a blessing to him. In all my remembrance of you - everytime I think of you I have to stop and think God. Always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy - When he prays for them - He is filled with joy and happiness. This is a man who loves this church. You can't help but read this little book and get the feeling that this Church is special to Paul. They are not perfect, he will correct them in some areas, but he loves them.
I want us all to have that same love and joy in Open Door Fellowship. How can that happen? Question: How can you make this church the best church that it can possibly be?
Paul gives us four areas in which the Phillipian church excelled. I believe if we incorporate these into our fellowship, we can make this the best church that ODF can be.
I) PARTICIPATE TOGETHER IN THE WORK OF THE GOSPEL - Partnership is the word that is often translate fellowship. It means to share something in common. What they shared was the Gospel. This is the Good News that Jesus came to save sinners. That He forgives sin and Their participation began with their salvation. Saved believers share something the world does not.
Their participation also included their prayers of him - 1:19
They shared in suffering for the Gospel - 1:27-30
They sent a member of their church, Epaphriditus to serve Paul and work with him in the ministry. 2:25-30
They gave financial support - 4:10-18 They were poor, but they gave sacrificially.
Serving in the work of the Gospel is the greatest endeavor that anyone can be a part of. When we participate ...
