PROPOSITION: Christians can guard the unity of the fellowship by treating each other in a Christlike fashion. .

INTRODUCTION: Quote: ''Thank you for the invitation to Church, but don't look for me anytime soon. Preacher, the meanest people I have ever meet are at Church!'' It's a shame, but I have heard more than one person in more than one church make this statement. Should the opposite be true? No one expects Church folk to be perfect, but I do think they expect something better than what they experience in the world or see on TV or the movies. The Lord's church should be a place where people are treated as Jesus would have treated them.

Paul demonstrates how we are to treat one another by giving us Jesus as our example.

This passage is both theological (explain) and chronological. That we step back into eternity past and walk with Jesus as comes to earth, dies on the cross, and is then exalted to the right hand of the Father. Finally, we get a glimpse of the future as we see all men everywhere bowing before Christ.

THE THEOLOGICAL PRINCIPLE - Jesus possessed the attributes of God. He was and is God.

Hebrews 1:3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person.
He had always existed, His being has no beginning. Jesus was never created, rather as God He is the creator.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The point is that Jesus is equal with God. This is one of the foundational truths of the Christian faith.
