Question: Are the natural disasters our world is experiencing today the judgment of God?

INTRODUCTION:

Two well-known TV evangelists proclaimed on TV that the flooding in Houston and the hurricane that hit Florida are the judgment of God. They both attributed it to the Gay marriage and the sin of abortion. Of course, unbelievers have had a hay-day with this one. Especially since one of them took the opportunity to try and sell his brand of prepper food. Darrell sent me this link last night. A Christian numerologist claims that the world will end next Saturday when a planet will, supposedly, collide with Earth. Fox News reported that David Meade's reasoning is found in Luke 21:25-265, he states that the recent solar eclipse and hurricane Harvey are signs of the apocalypse.

But I have heard a lot of people, good people, smart people, asking this question. Are we under Judgment? What about the eclipse, the hurricanes, the tornados, the love-bugs? Is God about to destroy us all?

Let's take a few minutes and see what the Bible can tell us about this question, ''Are we under the judgment of God?''

To answer that question we are going to see if the Bible tells us anything about God's relationship to nature, if God has ever used natural disasters and calamities to judge people before, and finally how can we find hope in all of this.

I) GOD IS SOVERIEGN OVER NATURE - Sovereign means that God is in control. He rules over nature.

- God created nature. Nature works according to His plan and purposes.

- Jeremiah 10:13 - When he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightening for the rain, and he brings forth the wind from the storehouses.
