John 8:28-32: 28 Then Jesus said to them, ''When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things. 29 And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.'' 30 As He spoke these words, many believed in Him.31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ''If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.''

Have you heard of this: ''tight pants syndrome?'' I know it sounds like an unusual title for a sermon but let me explain and I think you'll understand.Tight Pants Syndrome is a brand new psychological diagnosis that was identified in the late 20th century. This syndrome is found almost exclusively in men. Basically it has to do with the almost complete inability of the American male to admit that he's gained weight and needs to wear larger pants.It was discovered that if a man wears his pants too small over too long a period of time his internal organs can become displaced resulting in a wide variety of physical problems. Normally, you will hear these guys say something like, ''I'm still wearing the same size pants I wore in High School.'' Yeah, right!It's nothing less than pride and an unwillingness to admit to the truth that causes us to do this sort of thing to ourselves. In the same vein, Jesus reminded His disciples that only in knowing Him could they know the truth and enjoy the freedom that salvation brings.
