The Disciples' Delight, Part 2 (3 of 4)

John 17:1, 6-19
In case you haven't heard, next Sunday, August 15th, we're beginning a church-wide prayer meeting that I believe will lead us to becoming a prayer-driven church!
This prayer meeting is open to anybody who has a need in their life or a burden on their heart. The first prayer meeting will be held here in the worship center. We'll begin at 5:30 p.m. sharp and we'll finish at 6:15 p.m.
And then after a short break, we'll enjoy a time of worship at 6:30 p.m. Now let me say a word about our evening worship service. We're going to continue having wonderful singing and practical Bible teaching, but we're going to shorten our worship time. Knowing that you've already been in prayer for 45 minutes, and knowing that school is the next morning, we're going to try to have you walking out of the building around 7:15 p.m.
I know that the heart can't take anymore than the seat can endure, and for that reason, we want Sunday night to be embraced by every member. We'll have child-care for the preschoolers and first through third graders. We'll have Bible Drill for the fourth through sixth graders. Our teenagers will be having their own prayer time led by our Student Minister: Michael Mynatt.
We'll be praying for personal needs and church needs. We'll be praying for our neighbors. We'll be praying for certain ministries in our church. There will be prayer of Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving!
I am convinced that through these prayer meetings that we're going to see the power of God unleashed among us. We'll see our ministries anointed by the Holy Spirit. We'll see people come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal savior! And First Baptist Church will reach her potential as we become a prayer-driven church!
As I study the early church as recorded in the book of Acts, I don't find the church driven by personalities, programs, pep, or purpose! They ...
