I have been associated with a lot of churches. I think I have been a member of about 16 churches in my life and ministry. I have been the interim pastor of several churches. I have preached hundreds of revivals. I can honestly say there were many churches I liked and would have enjoyed being a member. However, there were a few cases when I wondered why the members would want to be members of that church.

I heard about a Marine sergeant who ran his household like he ran his platoon. One day a baseball came through his window. He lined the boys up and asked who did it? The youngest said, ''Yes sir, I did throw that ball through the window, and sir, I want to transfer out of this chicken outfit!''

Perhaps some members would like to get a transfer. Since I have spent my professional life in the service of Christ, I've wondered about the kind of church I would choose if it were left up to me.

In Acts two there is a cameo snapshot of the Jerusalem Church, and it is my kind of church.

1.IT WAS A PRAYING CHURCH.

The 120-people prayed after the ascension of Christ. They were preparing their hearts for what lay ahead.

1.They prayed in unity.

They were in one accord. They were all praying for the same thing. They were not praying against each other.

2.They prayed in unison.

They were all there doing the same thing. It wasn't just the apostles that prayed. They all prayed. There is power in a group praying.

Matthew 18:18 ''Verily I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.''

Jesus placed emphasis on two or more praying for the same thing. When God's people pray the presence of God is perceived, the power of God is received, and the purpose of God is achieved.

2.IT WAS A PRAISING CHURCH.

When we use that word today, we are reminded of the worship wars that is sweeping across the land. Churches ...
