Jesus Cares (1 of 14)
Series: Jesus' Glory
Steve Jones
John 2
Sermon Summary: The wedding at Cana of Galilee reveals the Glory of Jesus' caring. 1) He cares about the little stuff. 2) He cares about the big stuff. 3) He cares about the good stuff.
Intro: Look at this picture of a father catching his 2-year-old son in the air. That's a picture of trust. You've experienced scenes like this with your own children and grandchildren. A small child stands on the edge of the pool or the stairs or the wall and says, Catch me daddy'' and they jump, putting their very lives in jeopardy, with the full faith and confidence that you will catch them. Why do they do that? Because they trust you. And why do they trust you? Because they know you.
Likewise, God wants us to trust him. In the Bible, he challenges us to live in ways that are often counterintuitive. Sometimes we do them and sometimes we don't. When we don't the reason is often that we don't trust him. We don't have enough faith. And the reason we don't have more faith is because we don't know him as we should. How can you increase your faith? There is more than one answer to that question but the way to increase our faith that we will focus on in this new sermon series is by getting to know God better.
John 20:31 ''These (signs) have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.''
The book of John contains many of the miraculous signs that Jesus performed. They're recorded for the sake of your faith. I know that most of you already believe. Well and good. But we need to believe more. There are degrees of faith. Jesus spoke of those with ''little faith'' (Mt.8:26) and those with ''great faith'' (Mt.8:10). You want to be on the ''great faith'' end of that spectrum. The greater your faith, the more abundant your life in Christ.
