Well, if you have your Bible, please turn to Genesis chapter 1. If you can't find Genesis chapter 1, you're in trouble. Right at the first the book of beginnings. We're in a series called Foundations, and we're looking at the foundations that God has set up. That He has used to set up life and uphold life and make life work. And today, we want to look at the foundations of marriage and family.

I heard about a couple. They were celebrating 50 years of marriage. That's a big milestone, 50 years of marriage. And the wife had gotten pretty deaf over those years, very hard of hearing. And they were having a 50th celebration just friends and family were there. And the husband made a toast to his wife, and he said, ''Over these 50 years I have found you to be tried and true.'' And she said, ''What?'' He said, ''Over these 50 years I have found you to be tried and true.'' She said, ''Huh?'' He said, ''After 50 years I've found you to be tried and true, tried and true, tried and true.'' She said, ''Well, after 50 years I'm tired of you, too.'' (Laughter) Not what he wanted.

Marriage and family are so important to God. God designed marriage and family and set up marriage and family in the first chapter of the Bible. On the sixth day of creation, the day when He made Adam and when He made Eve, He established marriage and family. It's more important than government. It's more important than schools. It's more important, in terms of first things, than even the church because God established first marriage, and then marriage that produces children and produces a family.

Now I think we would all agree that marriage and family are being attacked today - severe attack on marriage. People in our world today, they want to redefine marriage. They want to redesign marriage. Ah, many in our world today say, ''Well, who needs marriage? I'm just going to, ah, live with my girlfriend, live with ...
