Daniel 3:28, 16-17


28Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.

16Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. 17If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. 18But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

Gladys Aylward was a missionary who served the people of China for many years. Gladys had a life-changing experience at the age of 28 years old, she surrendered her life to Christ and began to live out her passion. She believed that God was calling her to the missionary field, and she responded by choosing to go to China to serve God. She ended up in a place Yen Cheng where she met another missionary that was running an Inn for travelers; it provided more than just lodging and hospitality, it was the mission ground for witnessing. All who lodged were exposed to the Christian witness of Gladys and that missionary. Gladys later transformed that Inn into an orphanage for children.

There were so many Chinese children who were orphans in that area, either from abandonment or from running away from places where they were being enslaved or abused. However, the Japanese were invading certain areas of China and the village where she had the orphanage would be invaded. Gladys loves these children, and now she had over 100 children of various ages at the orphanage.
