1 John 5: 13-21 (9 of 9)
Vermon Pierre
Series: 1 John
This morning, finish up our time in 1 John. Apostle John touched on lot of different things. Been necessary, because as you'll remember John wrote this letter to counteract wrong teaching about Jesus from people who'd left the church. And in all he's said in response to them, it all comes down to this for John, 1 John 5:13 - I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.
John wrote all this to encourage those who read this in their faith in Jesus, and that their faith in Jesus should give them confidence that they really do have eternal life in Jesus.
Ultimately about Jesus - about believing in Jesus as the Son of God. That's main thing. And now, as John finishes up this letter, gives us last things encourage and strengthen us in our belief in Jesus. That's what doing today - 3 things to know if you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.

This such a big one, such a necessary one for our church in this season, going spend most of time on this one. 1 John 5:14-15 - 14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
Our faith in Jesus gives us direct access to God. Direct access! Because of your faith in Jesus, be confident that when you pray, God will hear you. And not just that! v.15, ''And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests we've asked of him.''
Whatever we need, whatever want to talk about, whatever it is (''if we ask ANYTHING according to his will''), he hears us. He hears and answers us.
Of course, God not Aladdin's genie. Important qualifier here. As pray ''according to his will,'' God hears and God acts. This fits with ...
