Ecclesiastes 6
We're continuing our series of messages this morning from the book of Ecclesiastes under the heading: MAN'S QUEST FOR THE BEST.
So . . . take your Bible and turn with me to the Old Testament book of Ecclesiastes. You will recall that in Ecclesiastes that King Solomon is giving his testimony. Ecclesiastes is a journal of royalty! And in his journal . . . Solomon records his quest for the best!
Now you would think that being King would give him satisfaction and contentment and meaning and purpose! But you're going to learn this morning that life without God is empty! Even if you're the King!
In fact . . . Solomon described his soul in two words: not satisfied! Listen to chapter 6.3, ''but his soul is not satisfied with goodness'' . . . Verse 7, ''and yet his soul is not satisfied.'' Here's a man on a quest for the best and he ends up like so many people today with an unsatisfied soul . . . an empty soul . . . a hollow soul! Solomon looked at his possessions and obsessions and realized he wasn't a satisfied customer!
Here's a man who had possessions without peace . . . accumulation without satisfaction . . . money without meaning . . . cash without contentment! And perhaps like you: his pockets were full but his life was empty! Friend .. God never intended for you to have life without satisfaction! God never intended for your soul not be satisfied! God never intended for your life to be empty!
Now this may come as a surprise to you . . . but God wants your life to be full with meaning and purpose! In fact .. God doesn't want you to merely endure life . . . He wants you to enjoy life! What a tragedy to have a soul that lacks satisfaction. Well . . . this morning from God's Word .. I want to show you how you can have a satisfied soul! That's right! A Satisfied Soul! I want to show you from this sixth chapter of Ecclesiastes what prohibits a satisfied soul and then ...
