We find ourselves in the New Testament book of Philippians chapter 1 as we continue our study under the heading:

STANDING ON THE PROMISES!

When it comes to the promises of God, keep in mind that when God makes a promise ....

FAITH BELIEVES IT! We need to be more like Abraham who according to Romans 4.20-21, ''.. did not waver (stagger) at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.''

What, according to Romans 4, prevented Abraham and prevents us from staggering at the promise of God? Faith! Faith is taking God at His word and acting on it. And when you act on God's word, you're exercising bible faith. There are two steps to faith: Believing and Doing! First comes believing and then comes doing. By doing what you believe is the word of God; faith is exercised.

And what according to Romans 4 leads to staggering or wavering at the promises of God? Unbelief.

Unbelief leads to staggering at God's promises and Faith leads to standing on God's promises.

''.. but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.''

So when GOD makes a promise:

FAITH BELIEVES IT.

HOPE ANTICIPATES IT. Not a ''hope-so'' kind of hope but a ''know-so'' kind of hope. A bedrock certainty kind of hope!

PATIENCE AWAITS IT.

And I want to tell you ahead of time that tonight's promise involves some guaranteed wait time! The fulfillment of this promise takes time!

Have you ever started anything you didn't finish? Do you have any unfinished projects lying around the house or in the garage?

- You started it with the plan to finish it.
