If you have your Bible, please turn to John chapter 1. I want to talk to you today about How to See the Glory of God.

You know companies and organizations; they will spend lots of money and lots of time in conference rooms, trying to come up with a theme, a little tagline, a little slogan for their organization to let people know what they're all about. And sometimes we have to wonder, what were they thinking?

There was a lady named Nina. She has a photography business. This was her tagline: ''I shoot people and pets.'' It's on her card there, kind of a strange thing.

Creston Valley Meats, here's their tagline: ''Those animals are just dying for you to taste them.'' I guess that's true, but a little crude.

How about the Youth Marshal Arts? ''Building better kids one punch at a time.'' Sometimes kids need a little few light slams.

And then this one from Chicago Police Department: ''Homicide - our day starts when yours ends.'' It's very direct.

Well, I like themes and slogans. I think they're good for the church. And so for every year we kind of think and pray and talk through, where we're headed and what's going on. And as you know, for the last two years we've talked about shine and share. And that hasn't gone away because that, I believe, is our mandate from the Lord - to shine for Christ and to share what the Lord has done in our lives. Share our story. Share His story, the gospel story. And we're supposed to do that, and that is why we are here on this earth.

But for this year, I want us to really focus in on faith and growing in our faith. And we've chosen as the theme for this year, Believe and See. It's based on John chapter 11; verse 40, where Jesus, at the tomb of Lazarus, said to Martha, ''Did I not say to you, if you believe, you will see the glory of God?''
