Proposition Statement:
The Holy Spirit gives EVERY Christian supernatural gifts in order for them to serve the body.
Intro:

We are back in 1 Corinthians today, getting towards the back end of our multi-month study in this incredible letter from Paul to a young, vibrant, happening, but very confused little church in Corinth.
If we were to summarize the argument flow of Corinthians very broadly, it would go a little something like this:
The gospel of Jesus Christ is TRANSFORMATIVE.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is COMPREHENSIVE.
Recipients of the gospel of Jesus Christ therefore should live lives of grace-fueled and Spirit empowered comprehensive transformation.
Paul is now going to turn his attention to the way that the Holy Spirit gifts the church for effective service and ministry. The church in Corinth had lots of gift, but not a lot of maturity in how they needed to apply those gifts.
People who came into their midst would never find them dull, they just weren't an impressive bunch in maturity, service, restraint and humility.
So, let me read the text to you and make some introductory comments that will set us up for the next 5 weeks that we will spend together in 1 Corinthians 12 to 14.
Here are three hopes we have for the next five weeks:
- Education
Paul is going to tell the Corinthians that he doesn't want them to be uninformed when it comes to spiritual gifts. The same is true for us.
I have learned lots researching this afresh and realized that I held some bias based on experience that I needed to lay down.
- Equipping
We want to see you using your gifts, because we believe that you will flourish and the community will flourish.
The GC's will be getting into detail in terms of equipping one another for using the gifts in community.
- Expectancy
My big prayer is that we wo ...
