1 Corinthians 12

Intro:

We are many weeks in to a verse by verse study of Paul's 1st letter to the Corinthians.
We find ourselves in the 1 Corinthians 12 and so we are camping here a bit as Paul speaks about Spiritual gifts. We said last week that Spiritual gifts are different from natural talents in that:

- They are breathed into us by the Spirit.
- They are for the blessing and benefit of the church.
- They are given for the glory and fame of Jesus Christ.
- As we looked at the first part of 1 Corinthians 12 last week, we noted that:
- Every Christian gets the Spirit (though every Christian should desire more of the Spirit.)
- Every Christian gets at least one gift.
- The gifts are varied but they all matter.
- God gives the gifts as he sees fit for the purpose of building his church.

We are a manifestation and a current incarnation of the wonderful work of the gospel of Jesus Christ going on in the world. US!! You and Me!!

This, right here, is part of the manifold wisdom of God on display in the world. Showing the principalities and powers how wise, and caring, and loving, and powerful God is.
I love the local church. So, let me read Paul's description of what she is like, and we will make some pit-stops along the way. I am not going to add much, because this morning we want to leave some time to actually practice what we believe about this family and the way God moves in her midst.

You ready? Let's go.
