16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ''The just shall live by faith.''

Paul was very clear about what he believed the guiding principles of live ought to be for believers. Too many of us just sort of make up our lives as we go along. Whatever we come up with we come up with. Often we see it as just how things turn out. Plans are not bad but guiding principles are even better.
Think about it. Lost people have no legitimate guiding principles for their lives. Who's to say that one lost person's opinion about how life is any better than any other lost person's opinion? This is why we need the Lord to instruct us.

So how should we live and what are those principles that enabled Paul to live a life that was pleasing to God?

1. GUIDING PRINCIPLE #1: ''Live Without Shame''
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
I don't mean being ashamed of the bad things we do. This is one of the real problems with our present day society. There is no shame. We dress like we want to, we go where we want to, and basically do what we want to.
No, Paul was referring to the shame or embarrassment many believers feel when given an opportunity to speak publically about Christ. Not only was Paul not ashamed of his relationship with Christ but he spoke on the Lord's behalf every opportunity he got.
It's human nature to not talk about something we're ashamed of. If we are shy about using His name it's because we're ashamed of it.
