THREE SIMPLE WORDS THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE

17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

In verses 1-11 of this chapter Paul described the general lifestyle characteristics of the old man. This is not to say that every lost person by necessity must live this way but, generally speaking, because lost people are not possessed by God's Spirit these characteristics will apply more often to their lives than to the saved. In verses 12 through 17 Paul described the general lifestyle characteristics of the new man or those who are saved. Because these individuals have been saved by the blood of Christ and are possessed by the Spirit of Christ there is a greater likelihood they will live lives that imitate the life of Christ. That's us!

Colossians 3:17 is Paul's summary verse for this passage. Everything we find in verses 12-17 that apply to saved people can be summed up in this one verse. There are three very simple yet important words in this one verse that have the power to radically change our lives if we'll take them to heart. Sometimes in Scripture the simplest concepts are the most powerful. Unfortunately, we often make things way too complicated.

Just knowing these words will likely do nothing for us. However, surrendering our lives to these three simple yet powerful words will change us both inside and out.
