GOING WITH THE FLOW
Daniel was one of the Hebrews the Babylonians deported from Judah after conquering the Southern Kingdom. The lives of most Jews revolved around their country and city. Without Israel, without Jerusalem and the Temple, they thought of themselves as orphaned, having no hope. However, a select few like Daniel realized their ultimate commitment was not to a city or a nation but to God Almighty. In Babylon it would have been easy for Daniel to forget about God and go with the flow.
Today, there's a great temptation for believers to fit in, to go with the flow. The only problem with this is that often the flow of our lost world takes us to places where God doesn't want us to be. According to God's calling, we are a people who must always swim against the tide.
Notice how Daniel was able to keep from going with the flow. I believe God would have us to employ these same principles so we can maintain our Christian witness in a lost world.
1. DANIEL'S DEVOTION KEPT HIM FROM GOING WITH THE FLOW (6:4-5):
4 So the governors and satraps sought to find some charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; nor was there any error or fault found in him.
5 Then these men said, ''We shall not find any charge (''pretext'') against this Daniel unless we find it against him concerning the law of his God.''

Because of their jealousy, Daniel's enemies looked into every area of his life to find something they could charge him with. We can imagine they scrutinized his political life, his personal life, and even his business dealings. Daniels' life was so clean his enemies couldn't even come up with a pretext of a charge against him. In the end, his devotion to God was the only thing he could be charged with.
It was Daniel's devotion to God that motivated him to be a faithful man of God. Then, it was the evidence of Daniel's faithf ...
