This past week was especially busy for me. Consequently, I missed a couple of my weightlifting workouts. So on Friday evening I decided to combine all of my weekly routines into a single full-body lift-a-thon. I did so without my animalistic workout partner (my daughter, Jena), which meant I went through the exercises at break-neck pace without any rest. After my workout, I dragged my sore corpse out of the gym and assumed everything would be just fine. As fate would have it, the next day I spent 12 hours in a car traveling to a wedding. Every time I stepped out of the car on our trek, I found my body had seized up with the hours of sitting. I was like a bad rendition of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Oh, I hurt!

Have you ever experienced such physical agony? If you workout, you probably have. Well, as bad as physical pain can be, mental pain can be equally severe. Today you're going to experience an unusual degree of mental pain. Today we're going to study the millennium and great white throne judgment. These two topics will strain your brain. Hence, your brain is going to ache and throb!

I've taught eschatology (i.e., the study of last things) for ten years at Ecola Bible School in Cannon Beach, Oregon. Several years ago, in the midst of one of my lectures, an 18-year old surfer shot up his hand and boldly inquired: ''What difference does the millennium make in our lives?'' I quickly smiled and thought to myself: ''You young whippersnapper! Who do you think you are? Don't interrupt my answers with your questions.'' Immediately, I felt 140 pairs of eyes fixate upon me. These impressionable teens wanted to hear my response. I provided a brief retort that I'll seek to expound on in this message.
