1John 4:7
A Message for Encounter Christian Church
You were created for RELATIONSHIP - 1) a relationship with God, and 2) relationships with others. Simple and true.
In other words, Jesus didn't save you to just save you. He saved you and called you and chose you and drew you to Himself to have a thriving and intimate relationship with you.
The purpose of today's message is to say that our relationship with God is primary, but what runs a very close second, and what stems from our relationship with God, is our relationship with others. God doesn't want a relationship with us that doesn't include treating others whom He created with the same love that He loves us with.
1John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
John 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
That word ''love'' is AGAPE. Agape is the God-kind of love. It is
- Unconditional
- Unfailing
- Unchanging
- Committed
- Constant
- Faithful
- Grace-Filled
- True
- Ever-giving
- Other-centered
- Sacrificial
- Forgiving
Agape is what makes our relationships with others REALationships!
So, as we look at the different characteristics of God and our personal relationship with God, let's ask ourselves, ''how am I living out this same love for others?''
