''Is God Dead?'' was an April 8, 1966, cover story for the news magazine Time. A previous article, from October 1965, had investigated a trend among 1960s theologians to write God out of the field of theology. The 1966 article looked in greater depth at the problems facing modern theologians, in making God relevant to an increasingly secular society. Modern science had eliminated the need for religion to explain the natural world, and God took up less and less space in people's daily lives. The ideas of various scholars were brought in, including the application of contemporary philosophy to the field of theology, and a more personal, individual approach to religion.
Is Christian religion just a crutch that needy people lean on? How do we know what we believe is right or true? Is there evidence that there really was a resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, or is Christianity a hoax? The Apostle Paul was facing this very thing in the Corinthian church. There were some among the believers there that were saying that there was no such thing as the resurrection from the dead. The Sadducees didn't believe in the resurrection of the dead and that's sad you see! Without the resurrection, life would have no meaning, Christianity would be sham, and Jesus would be nothing more than a historical figure.

1 Corinthians 15:12 Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. 14 And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. 15 Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up--if in fact the dead do not rise. 16 For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. 17 And if Christ is not risen, ...
