This afternoon when we returned from the services to
our homes, we heard the announcement on television
that our president, George W. Bush had ordered strikes
against the Taliban in Afghanistan. That means that we
have officially begun our response to the terrorist
attack of September 11. In a matter of days we have
responded and we find ourselves in a world at war. We
find ourselves in a very dangerous world. There's a
great deal of fear. Many people have hearts that are
in fear. We have been told that it is not a matter of
if, but there's a 100% chance that if we strike the
Taliban in Afghanistan that there will be another
response from the terrorists in our country. Security
is heightened. There is great tension in the air.
There is fear. People are beginning to wonder about
the future. There is great interest in the future.
People are turning to thoughts about God. They want to
know who is God and how do you get to know God and
does God have anything to say about the future?
People are greatly interested now in what the future
holds and is there some way we can know the future?

Some people will say that you will find the future in
the stars and people turn to astrology. They think
somehow by studying the arrangement of the starts that
they can make some kinds of predictions about
themselves and about world history. But your future is
not in the stars. Your future is in the Scriptures.
There is only one who knows the future and that is God
Himself. Isaiah 46:9 and 10 say these words, "I am God
and there is none else. I am God and there is none
like me. Declaring the end from the beginning and from
ancient times the things that are not yet done."

Only God knows the future. Psalm 31:15 says about us,
"My times are in thy hands."
