I want to clarify a statement I made Sunday morning
about Israel. I think maybe in the heat of the moment
I didn't express it as clearly as I would like to; and
probably in the emotion of the moment, it was not
heard as precisely as it would have been heard.
I want to say, first of all, I go on record and have
been for many years, in support of Israel. I know the
Bible well enough to know that you support Israel
because God said He would bless those who blessed
Israel and He would curse those who cursed Israel.
That's a given. We always are in support of Israel.
When I said, "take our hands off Israel," I was not in
any way suggesting that we should withdraw support
from Israel. What I meant was—quit restraining Israel
and let Israel go about their business and deal with
the PLO and Arafat and that whole bunch of thugs over
there. That's what I was talking about. I think most
of you caught what I was saying and understood, but if
you run into anybody who misunderstood it on
television, you say-no, no, our preacher was
supporting Israel. He was just saying to let them
loose so they can do what they need to do to solve
their problem.
When you get into these emotional situations you don't
always express it like you want to and you may not
hear the way you would hear under ordinary
circumstances. I hope that clarification will make
some sense to you.
Dr. Falwell told me last night that he will be on
Gerlado tonight. You listen to Dr. Falwell and I'll
let him speak for himself and tend to his. We always
want to give the benefit of the doubt. The liberals
would love to silence conservative voices and take
every opportunity they could.
I want to add one matter of prayer that I think
we ought to pray about. We have in our fellowship some
wonderful Christians who are of Arabic origin. They
