Series: We Are Soldiers

Philippians 3:17-21
A few years ago the show came out on television. I think it was on the Fox Network. It was a very interesting show. It was a show that a certain group of people really, really, really hated. The show was called Breaking the Magician's Code: Magic's Biggest Secrets Finally Revealed.
Now if anybody knows anything about magicians and illusionists and things like that, one of the key things about being a magician is you keep the magician's code, which means you don't tell people how the tricks are done. And we've all seen magicians and illusionists do slight-of-hand things and do some pretty amazing things, and you think, How in the world did that guy do that? Well, in this television show they would show you the illusion, and then they would show you how the guy did it. His name was Val Valentino. And he's not well liked in magician's circles because he was revealing all the secrets. But I liked the show because I always wondered how in the world do they do this? It looks so real, like they're really making an elephant disappear, or they're really doing this, that, or the other. They're really cutting this person in half. How does it work? Now, how is a big, big question for us, that's just the way we're wired as people. We like to know how.
Now when it comes to the Christian life, how is an important word. And there are many people that come to church Sunday after Sunday after Sunday and they hear good music. Perhaps they hear a good message and their hearts get stirred but sometimes there's a, disconnect with what they hear and how to do it. How does this apply to my life? How can I take what I've heard and put it into my life to where it makes a difference? And I'm convinced that lots of people leave and they say, ''Well, that was good, but I still don't know how to do it.''
