Philippians 4:6-7

6 Be anxious (''fretful or worried'') for nothing (''not even one thing''), but in everything by prayer (''worship'') and supplication (''petition''), with thanksgiving (''gratitude''), let your requests be made known to God;

7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

We are hearing so much these days about stress and anxiety. I've come to the conclusion that there is no possible way to avoid all anxiety and stress in this world. However, there will be times, some worse than others, when anxiety and stress will build to intolerable levels. Some of these times might be when we lose a job, when a relationship breaks up, or when one of our children gets sick. These things happen.

How do we keep these anxious moments from defeating us as Christians? They surely can defeat us and rob us of our testimony if we are not careful. Paul has an answer for this question.

Take a look at God's cure for anxiety.

1. IN ORDER TO DEFEAT ANXIETY WE MUST REMEMBER GOD'S ADMONITION (v. 6):

6 Be anxious (''fretful or worried'') for nothing (''not even one thing''), but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

In this verse Paul admonished his readers to not be worried or fretful about one single thing. Is worry of the devil? Apparently so. Is there anything the evil one uses more often to rob us of peace and spiritual prosperity than fear and anxiety?
