Today I am going to call you to do the unthinkable...I am going to call you to murder someone. Not only am I going to call you to murder someone I am going to sow you that his act is sanctioned by God and more than sanctioned by God is it commanded/mandated by God.

Before some of you hard-hearted folks with deep-seated anger issues start making out your hit list I need to let you know the Bible has already identified your target and the target is in you...

Colossians 3.5-11 - Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming. 7 In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. 8 But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. 11 Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.

Murder, the taking of a life, is always an act of passion. It is a crime connected with strong emotion and usually that of anger and hate. You never maliciously murder or kill someone you love (you may have thought about it a time or two)...only those you hate, despise or are trying to take your life in return.

When we come to faith in God through Christ Jesus our Lord and are saved we are immediately and simultaneously called to holiness...a call to holiness is a call to love God and hate sin/evil. It is a call to seek God and pursue God and Godliness and put to death that which is earthly within you.
