Faith in the Job Place (15 of 17)
Series: Colossians

Colossians 3:22-4:1
Have you ever met someone who cannot stand for the food on their plate to touch? They take extra care and precaution to ensure the peas stay where the peas should stay, the taters where the taters are supposed to stay and the meat where the meat should stay and if they ever meet or mix then I ain't eating them. To those more obsessive compulsive individuals in our midst you would say everything has its place and should stay in its place.
There are some people that treat their life and their faith the same way. We have all of these different parts that make up life: family, faith, friends, leisure, work and our finances. They all sit atop of life's plate and we don't want them to touch - we want them to be kept separate. Each has its own place, especially our faith.
Some people think, 'well what does my faith have to do with this world and my life as a whole?' I do the faith thing when I am supposed to do the faith thing. I do the family thing when I am supposed to do the family thing. I do the leisure and hobby thing whenever I can squeeze it in. I do the work thing when I am supposed to do the work thing.
Does this faith thing really have anything to do with the other areas of my life? Social life? Family? Work?
The answer to that is 'absolutely!' Becoming a Christian means that Jesus Christ has something to say about everything you do whether it is school work, family, finances or fun. Over the last few weeks we have seen that this new life we have been given in Christ is a life to be lived out among men. Last week we saw how our faith was to affect the relationships in our home and today we are going to see how our faith affects our relationships at work and how it affects our understanding and attitude toward work.
