It's Time

Haggai 1:1-13, Romans 13:11-14


After the second jet hit the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001, word began to spread in all sorts of ways. When the passengers of Flight 93 began hearing the reports of the devastation from the attacks, they understood their situation. If they did nothing, hundreds or thousands of other might also. In what is one of the most chilling phone calls of all times, GTE Operator Lisa Jefferson heard Todd Beamer speak those chilling words, ''Let's Roll.'' Here's the deal: We all know that their 'rolling' led them to sacrifice their lives to save many others.

I never hear, read, or tell that story that I'm not touched deep inside. In those two words, ''Let's Roll'' Todd beamer expressed a message that needs to be heard across the redeemed of Christ today. The message is this, ''It's now or never'', ''put up or give up'', or even, ''It's Time''.

In my position where I preach 'itinerantly' instead of as a pastor, the messages that God places in me are messages for the 'churches' and not just to one people. This message carries the title, ''It's Time'' because I believe from our text the message to church is exactly this!

Let's read our text. Verse 1 - Notice ''through the PROPHET Haggai'' and clearly understand that a 'prophet does not come to smooth things out, he comes to make things right.' (Finish reading through vs 13). (PRAYER)

The Bible says, ''Now is the time and today is the day of salvation''. The call of God extends to us just like it did to these people. Let's learn about them.

The Problematic Condition of God's People - My deep conviction is that the average church in America today is living in Haggai 1. (Read verse 2) Some will say, ''We're not building a house.'' No we may not build in a brick and mortar project, but we are a part of building His Kingdom, and to get hung up on this is to miss the point. God had called these people to do His work and they didn't.
