Generous Giving

Ecclesiastes 5:10
Today I want to talk to you about Generous giving!
We all have funny ideas about relationship with God and giving money.
Man threw his money in the air. What stays up God keeps, and what falls to the ground is mine.
To do so requires that I talk about money!
The Bible directly mentions money over 800 times and makes over 2,000 financial references.
Why- Because money is very important to God and to us!
- Money is a medium of exchange!
- Money reflects our values! Look at your giving
- Money speaks to us about our insecurities!
- Money is also something that can be worshipped
God wants us to be generous!
Because generosity puts money in its proper place.
It removes it from its throne and power!
Jesus said ''You can't worship money and God at the same time.
Therefore God want you to be generous!
God is generous
Just think of His generosity
- He gave us not just black and white but thousands of colors.
- Think of the multitude of flavors he added to our lives
- Think of the thousands of trees, plants and vegetation
- Think of the variety of foods that we enjoy
- Think of the species of animals, birds and fish
- Think of the colors of the seasons
- Think of the different types of sunsets
- Every person is different
God is a God of generosity in all things!
So naturally as His children He wants us to reflect His nature.
God wants us to understand generosity
It does not come natural
That is the result of the fall and sin.
- We hold on to things
- It comes from our insecurity!
- It comes from feeling alone and abandoned and that we have to fend for ourselves.
All this is a result of the fall and sin!
Our world reinforces this fear within us!
We hoard for the future with fear.
We have storage sheds filled with merchandise we will never use!
We extend ourselves out on credit to purchase things to satisfy that we think we need.
