We have been in a series over the past few weeks called We Are, where we have been talking about the Core Values, the distinctiveness of our church, the things that make us...
And today we come to our 9th and 10th core Values, we are servants with excellence. Now maybe you are kind of new to Johnson Ferry, and even I am relatively new, our family has been worshipping with you guys since September but what you quickly notice is that Johnson Ferry is a church full of servants and servants that are really willing to go the extra mile in service... And if you are a member of Johnson Ferry I am really putting you on the hook here right? I am saying it seems that the members of Johnson Ferry are servants with excellence...
And you have to ask why is that? This is not a haphazard church there seems to be a lot of intentionality to everything going on here. Is that just because we are in East Cobb and all of these people are decent people? Maybe that has something to do with it, upbringing or corporate culture certainly affects us... Is that because Johnson Ferry has a great pastor and staff that model this service with excellence and are intentional with this ... Of course...
But is there something deeper, something more that motivates this, or that should motivate this?
Are we just servants with excellence because there are a lot of churches in Atlanta and we have to do something to set ourselves apart. Are we just servants with excellence because we don't want to let Bryant down? Or is there something more...
Well what I want to do today is something a little different rather than just consider maybe one passage or one section of scripture. I want to consider a whole corpus of scripture as it relates to one idea.
Because there is this idea of service with excellence or extra mile service that runs through scripture.
And maybe obvious place of course is in the sermon on the mount where in Ma ...
