This chapter is in many ways the most important prophetic chapter in the whole Bible as it contains what has been called the ABC of prophecy.

This chapter should be read in conjunction with Daniel 7 and Revelation Chapters 13 and 17. The whole second chapter of Daniel centers around King Nebuchadnezzar's dream.

The King was the ruler of the great part of the known civilized world. He was a mighty monarch and lived in great splendour in Babylon; but at the time that he is introduced to us in this second chapter he is certainly not enjoying peace of mind, for he had been terribly disturbed by a dream.

Let us notice the following lessons:

I. Three Things About The King

(1) His Dream- verse 13

There is nothing unusual about dreaming, but this was an unusual dream. King Nebuchadnezzar was in a bad mood when he called his wise men. His dream troubled him so greatly he could not sleep afterward

It was a nightmare, and in a day of superstition, when dreams and apparitions were always regarded as portentous, this dream made a tremendous impression upon the King.

The thing that shook Nebuchadnezzar was the fact that he knew that somehow his dream had to do with the future. Let's read verse 29

(2) His Dilemma verse 2-8 and 10-11

King Nebuchadnezzar was in a dilemma. First he could not remember his dream;and then because his wise men were quite incapable of recalling the details of his dream and of giving the interpretation of the dream.

In verse 2, ''sorcerers, users of horoscopes and incatations'', and the ''Chaldeans''-the priestly caste.'' None of these wise men were able to help , and they said so-verse 10.

(3)His Decree- verses 14-16

The infuriated king ordered the destruction of all the wise men of Babylon. They were a crafty lot of impostors anyway! They must die, including Daniel and his friends-v 10
