At the outset of our message today I want to ask you a few questions, all of you. Why are you here today? What is it that you are looking for or hoping for in this service? What do you want or expect to gain, take away or accomplish by being here this morning?

They may seem like odd questions for you. You may not have even thought about questions like this before but they are fair questions.

- When we go to the movies we expect a good, entertaining show, exciting/engaging plot line, good acting and an enjoyable time. When we go to our favorite restaurant we want to enjoy a delicious meal, good service and good company. If you go to a ballgame you go with the hopes and desire that your favorite team to win.
- We have expectations, great or small, about most things we give our time and attention to.

You may not have any expectations concerning this service today. These are important questions to say the least. They are significant.

A better set of questions may be what does God want from you today? Why has God brought you here? What does God want you to find? What does God want you to walk away with? What does God want you to know today? What does God want you to do today?

Those are to say the least, extremely significant, life altering questions. We are going to partially answer those questions today.

What we are going to discover today is that God wants you to draw near to Him. He wants you to come close. He wants you to enter into His presence. He wants to invite you into His favor. That is the invitation, the command that we find given to us in these verses. In a few minutes today that is exactly the invitation that we are going to extend to you.
