Salvation Is Not the End
Robert Dawson
Galatians 2:20
We have just had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas, a season where we turn our hearts and minds to the amazing story of Jesus Christ and His miraculous birth. It was in that amazing event that the God of this vast universe clothed Himself in human flesh. That is good news that brings to all of us a great joy because that babe in the manger was born to be the Savior for the world. That is not the end of the story, just the beginning.
That babe grew to be a man who lived a life unparalleled by any other. He lived a life of absolute perfection and was littered by authoritative teaching, teaching that no one had ever heard before. His ministry was filled with mind boggling miracles and signs from the restoring of sight the blind, hearing to deaf, mobility to the cripple, and health to the sick and even life to those who died but this beautiful faultless life ended tragically and cruelly at the hands of jealous, wicked and misguided men who had Him put to death. His death was unspeakably and indescribably brutal on every level. The physical torture and pain is difficult to comprehend but what is incomprehensible is the agony that come over Him as the full weight of God's wrath against sin (including mind and yours) was poured out on Him. After enduring such agony He died and was placed in a borrowed tomb. How could a life that began so miraculously and lived so beautifully and nobly end in such ignobility and utter shame. Death like a criminal and burial like a pauper - borrowed tomb. The story is not over, it is just beginning.
On the 3rd day the tomb was found empty and Jesus was alive and for 40 days he appeared to His followers. He ate with them, fellowshipped with them, worshipped with them and taught them about the Kingdom of Heaven and then He gloriously ascended to heaven - completing His journey. What a great story!
That would be an awesome ending to the story but it is not the end bec ...
