Almost weekly Jordan will ask Kristal or me when we are going back to Disney World. She can't wait to go back. We went to the zoo in Jacksonville a couple of weeks ago for the day and every now and then she will ask when I am going to take her back to look at the animals. She loves to go places. We all have places we would like to go. Things we would like to see and do. Maybe you would like to go to the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, Hawaii - maybe some of you just wish your husband would take you out to eat in town sometime.

Trips or pilgrimages are essential to one's salvation in some religions. It is not only important to some people's faith but increases their changes of entering into paradise. Muslims are required to journey to Mecca to worship at least once during their life - Haj

As believers there is no earthly pilgrimage necessary for us to complete our salvation or finish out our faith. A journey to the Holy Land may very well be a great benefit and bolster our faith and understanding of the Bible and develop a greater appreciation for the stories we read --- it is not necessary.

While we are not required to take a pilgrimage to a sacred location we are still a pilgrim people. As believers our citizenship is in God's kingdom and while we are here on this earth we are strangers who are passing through - we are on a journey - we are on a pilgrimage to a holy city but it is not an earthly one but a heavenly one.

Psalm 84 - is a song of one of the descendents of Korah (helped lead nation in worship) who was unable to attend worship at the temple - or was in route and anxiously looking forward to being present with other worshipers - and we see his longing to be there - to be at the temple but more than being at the Temple he longs for the presence of God.
