Introduction

I've got to confess you this morning, if you couldn't already tell by my clothes, I am desperate for spring and summer to get here! I mean all these occasional warm days, all they do is simply tease us I feel like. Now I've never had this problem as badly before I moved here to the lake. And I think its just the reality of that beautiful water constantly reminding me of all the warmth and fun that comes with summer, that is still so, so far away! Its funny sometimes I'll just be staring blankly out the window and Teresa will ask me, ''What's wrong?'' to which I just say, ''Nothing, I just want spring to get here!''

I know I'm not alone in this either, here; I've heard many of you say the same things. I mean these winter months can be hard for no other reason than they simply exaggerate for us just how monotonous life can really be. I mean that's really the heart of the issue. It's not the weather so much, as the fact that we are just looking for an escape from the day-in-day-out routine. We are desperate for some excitement, and we are looking anywhere we can for it. We plan trips just to give us something to look forward to. We waste hours on the internet to distract us from the day. I think this day in/day out routine is why so many people are sports obsessed, why we are so entertainment driven. We are looking for something to draw us out of the dull routine of our daily lives. I wouldn't be surprised this morning if many of you are feeling this way this morning. I mean honestly, who here doesn't stop from time to time, survey this routine we call life and say, what's the point? What's the purpose?

Even as Christians we are prone to melancholy and discontent. We look forward toward Heaven and toward eternal life, but what about the here and now? Why are we here? What is the purpose for human life? What is the meaning of ...
