Ruth 1:1-22
In 2014 a movie came out. It was a very popular movie. It was a popular book. It was titled Heaven Is For Real. And in the movie Todd Burpo, pastor, is struggling to keep everything together. His son has a serious situation, medical situation, and a near-death experience, and God rescues his son from death. Well, there's a scene in the movie where Todd is talking to one of the ladies in his church. Her name was Nancy. And Nancy had a situation where her son died. Todd's was saved, and her son died, and she was really struggling.
Nancy was mad at God, angry at God, blaming God for the things that had come into her life, for the loss of her son. Nancy represents millions of people around the world in cities and towns just like ours, in churches just like ours. People come to church and deep down in their hearts they're mad at God for the circumstances that came into their lives that they didn't want, that they didn't ask for, and they're blaming Him, and they're stuck, and they can't seem to move forward.

It starts with ashes, but it ends with beauty, because God is the God who gives beauty for ashes. And I believe that the Lord has many, many things He wants to speak to our hearts about so that we would look to Him even in the midst of suffering and ...
