Fathers: A Reflection of Glory

Dads, if you haven't noticed, or did not know we get the short end of the stick on this mother's day, father's day business.
A poll, few years old at this point with the percentages probably declining every year, said that 81% of people planned on celebrating mother's day and only 72% of people planned on celebrating Father's day. On mother's day people will spend over 10.5 billion dollars on mom and a mere 8 billion on dear old dad.
Back before the prevalence of cell phones the phone companies reported the number of calls made on father's day is significantly less than those made on mothers day but the phone companies make more money on father's day because of the number of collect calls that are made. Apparently those who do call dad want dad to pick up the tab.
One little boy had it right when he defined Father's day this way. 'It's a lot like mother's day only you don't spend as much money.'
Dads don't seem to get a fair shake. Paul Harvey defined a father this way... A father is a thing that is forced to endure childbirth without an anesthetic ... A father never feels worthy of the worship in a child's eyes. He's never quite the hero his daughter thinks, never quite the man his son believes him to be, and this worries him, sometimes. So he works too hard to try and smooth out the rough places in the road for those of his own who will follow him ... Fathers are what give daughters away to other men who aren't nearly good enough, so they can have grandchildren who are smarter than anybody's. Fathers make bets with insurance companies about who will live the longest. One day they lose and the bet is paid off to the part of them they leave behind.
Regardless of how you define Father's day or Fatherhood there is no denying the fact that He is an important part of the divine institution known as the family.
