FAMILY MATTERS (6 of 6)

Ephesians 6:5-9
10/8/00
We are in a section of Ephesians now that has to do
with family matters.
A few years ago I made a visit in a home of a young
couple that later joined our church and are active
members of our fellowship. It was a young engineer,
his wife, and his children. I was most impressed with
the family and especially impressed with how they were
teaching their boys and girls to memorize Scripture.
I noticed they were bringing them up in the nurture
and admonition of the Lord as the Bible commands us to
do. As I prepared to leave the home, I came to the
front door and on the door I saw this sign which the
wife had prepared. The sign said, "You are now
entering your mission field."
When I looked at that I asked a little bit about what
they meant by it. The wife said, "When my husband gets
ready to go to work every day to his engineering job,
when he leaves this house he is going out to his work
and that is his mission field."
That's why when I deal with these verses of scripture
I am still talking about family matters. Because what
you do for your job, your daily work, is a great
extension in many ways, of what goes on in your
family. Your family life extends itself as you move
out into the job.
So we are going to take a look at where you go to work
in the mornings. I'm talking about your Monday
Morning Mission. I'm talking about where you will go
in the morning when the alarm clock goes off (far
sooner than you and I want it to go off). You'll get
up and do whatever you do to get ready. Then, when
the time comes you will walk out of the door of your
house and go to your Monday Morning Mission Field.
You may go to a factory somewhere in Jacksonville.
You may go to an office. You may go to a construction
site. You may go to the mall. If you are in school you
may go to a school, ...
